The weather has been “warm” i..e it has climbed above zero centigrade, much to our disappointment. The snow has melted a lot, there was even grass visible on Troy and Katie’s garden, only where Troy had shoveled though, car parks and sidewalks are now full of puddles, It feels ‘English’ here. How ever that is rapidly on the change this evening, it is snowing now, and it’s settling well. I believe from the looks of the weather reports that it’s going to fall to a high of -6C by Tuesday night. We have not been up to very much in this past week, just working and living. I noticed that two of the tiny Aloe plants did not survive the trans-plant into the new pots. But the larger of the small 3 does appear to be doing well. Hannah got a kit for making moccasins, she has been busy making them.. Tigger amused us this week, which is not out […]
Hannah playing with Tigger, that toy came from Dollarama for $1.13 (Inc. tax)! He loves it. This is regular play time for Tigger, he likes to chase or catch something.
I have now fixed my helicopters’ ski using some transparent plastic that was part of some packaging from a present which one of us received from Christmas. I also built the Spite Fire which I was given for Christmas, it took longer than I expected, almost an hour and a half I think, It was great fun. I now plan on getting my wood glue from work and sticking a few of the parts in and on as some are a little lose. We got some good pictures of Tigger recently: On Saturday afternoon we set off from home with our snow shoes, a sledge/toboggan and headed North on Elm Street. We passed through Chelmsford and shortly before the next gas bar we spotted fire wood for sale. We bought $10 worth, loaded it into the sledge on the back seat off the car and then continued on our merry way. We arrived at […]
Got a couple of fun pictures of Tigger with Hannah. Also the snow was settling on top of the wires outside! Never seen that happen before. My new helicopter, that Hannah gave me for Christmas, is a Walkera (Cheap Chinese version of a better one made by another company I believe) Genius FP (Fixed pitch) 4ch, which gets some good reviews on forums. It’s only a small helicopter (32grams – my big helicopter is 230grams)), mainly for indoor use, but capable enough to use outside, which I expect that I will do when I get better at flying it. Also Hannah gave me a tiny helicopter (13grams but very compact). I have photographed the helicopters beside a loonie, (The Canadian dollar is approximately 26.5mm or 1-3/64″ ish).   Also, I have found a couple of time recently that I have needed a knife for some reason, always when I am not at […]
Tigger was very good at the vets, but he didn’t make any friends with the other animals there. A puppy came in, all excited, Tigger looked pretty unfriendly, ear flat on his head, eyes only slits and hissing like a pressure cooker about to explode. But with the vet he was very chilled, let him prod and poke him, check in his mouth etc. Helicopter news, I get my new motor, fitted it, only to discover that the gear didn’t mesh the same, upon closer inspection I found that the gear on the motor was pressed on the other way around to the one on the old motor, I let Litehwak know, they’re sending out a new motor to me.
Nitrogen, N, has a relative atomic mass of 14.0067, this is actually a ratio of the average mass of a single atom of the particular element to 1/12th the mass of an average carbon atom. From this we can deduce that a single carbon atom must be 168.0804. Nitrogen was discovered in Scotland by Daniel Rutherford back in 1772. Random? Yes. Thats all by the by, I bought some Nitrogen plant food for house plants to see if I can boost the growth of my Aloe Vera. I have just this moment read a scientific study on the affects of nitrogen on Aloe growth. It’s negligible over good quality soil…! I doubt my soil is decent, so maybe this will make a small difference Also me pretending to sleep with Tigger. Also I think that Tigger has a thing for “nice bags” he is always interested when we come in with bags and will climb in […]
I emailed LiteHawk about the purchase of the motor, they suggested that I should also check out the state the ESC (Electronic speed controller), there is a possibility that it might have damaged components. So I took a good look.. Also while taking pictures of it, I released that I had some pictures of Hannah and Tigger:
I received a new battery for my helicopter, as I suspected that the battery in the heli was failing. I emailed the support at LItehawk, they suggested that the short flight time could be caused by battery or motor failure, so having replaced the battery I flew the helicopter, the flight time was better, but not by much. I am going to order a new motor, which will cost $9.50 including postage. Pretty cheap! Tigger is going for a routine checkup this coming Thursday, we got him a carry case this weekend. He’s looked in it a few times, but we have not actually seen him right inside of it. We also got him one of these:
Today I thought that I would try to get some pictures of Tigger doing what he normally does, eating and chilling out on the floor, as I write this he is lying across Hannah’s lap, with his head on my knee and one of his crossed paws with claws in my jeans. Also I got a picture of the cat grass and Aloe Vera plant for prosperity sake. I am off now to take my helicopter apart to see if the motor brushes are ok. It’s almost an hour later now: I have checked the motor brushes, they’re both present and correct. Also got a couple more pictures of Tigger. The brushes are made of carbon, you can see one in the center of the picture, it’s the dark grey part which is running on the slip rings (the cylindrical part) the brushes are pressed into the copper, spring loaded […]
Yesterday we got up early, leaving the apartment by 6.30 and headed for Toronto, made good time, stopping only once in Parry Sound for a Tims and being slowed in Barry by the snow and traffic. What a weekend we have chosen to travel. We hadn’t realized that it’s the Grey Cup (CFL) weekend, last Thursday it had been Toronto vs Montreal (27-20), then also on Thursday it was Calgary vs BC (34-29) and so it being Tonroto vs Calgary today (Sunday) the city was heaving with people. The atmosphere was good thought, we parked underground on part of the “path” the underground walkways, we walked partly underground then through the city streets to the Eaton Center, where we did a bit of shopping, sight seeing on the Christmas lights and decorations. We ate in Baton Rouge which is attached to the mall. We also visited the CN tower, but didn’t go up it. We then eventually managed to find out car […]
