We’ve had a wonder-filled Christmas and a few really great days since. We’re very lucky to have some wonderful friends and relatives who bestowed upon us some lovely gifts. We hope that everybody enjoyed our gifts as much we did theirs. We’ve been out enjoying the winter weather here over the past few days. Been snow shoeing twice at Laurentian and then today we went to Killarney, where we took the yacht last year in the summer, only this time I able to walk on water; though obviously not in it’s liquid state. We snow shoe’d around the area, only meet a couple of skiers on our trip, it was so tranquil. The sun set through the thin cloud cover giving a lovely orange/red glow over the trees.   We drove on down to Killarney to see what the dock looks like frozen, as you’d expect it is frozen solid, very peaceful and quite this […]
It is getting colder outside, the snow has stopped and I believe the temperatures are supposed to drop now, I hope that means they can get the ice rinks open soon. Hannah and I went and did some of our Christmas shopping this morning, things like cheese and cold meats and a few other bits. Hannah has to work today, so I too am at work doing a few hours extra. We stopped in (I am not sure what I was going to put here….)… This post just trails off into nothing..
This one is less sad but more permanent then the Aloe Vera plant. So I got very close to the wall, then the blinds came into contact with the rotors. The rotor won this one.
Both Hannah and I went and got our hair cut today, Hannah’s was a little more extreme than mine. Needs no explanation. But she does look most lovely don’t you think? I have fixed my helicopter, after I told them about how the drive cog was on upside down, they sent me another, which I got yesterday. It is exactly the same as the other one, so still not right. So I had some cardboard and packed the motor off the mount so that it works, and sure enough it’s fixed. I now have two good motors both of which will function with packing. Hannah is off doing her board meeting stuff today after we have lasagna for lunch
Tigger was very good at the vets, but he didn’t make any friends with the other animals there. A puppy came in, all excited, Tigger looked pretty unfriendly, ear flat on his head, eyes only slits and hissing like a pressure cooker about to explode. But with the vet he was very chilled, let him prod and poke him, check in his mouth etc. Helicopter news, I get my new motor, fitted it, only to discover that the gear didn’t mesh the same, upon closer inspection I found that the gear on the motor was pressed on the other way around to the one on the old motor, I let Litehwak know, they’re sending out a new motor to me.
Nitrogen, N, has a relative atomic mass of 14.0067, this is actually a ratio of the average mass of a single atom of the particular element to 1/12th the mass of an average carbon atom. From this we can deduce that a single carbon atom must be 168.0804. Nitrogen was discovered in Scotland by Daniel Rutherford back in 1772. Random? Yes. Thats all by the by, I bought some Nitrogen plant food for house plants to see if I can boost the growth of my Aloe Vera. I have just this moment read a scientific study on the affects of nitrogen on Aloe growth. It’s negligible over good quality soil…! I doubt my soil is decent, so maybe this will make a small difference Also me pretending to sleep with Tigger. Also I think that Tigger has a thing for “nice bags” he is always interested when we come in with bags and will climb in […]
I emailed LiteHawk about the purchase of the motor, they suggested that I should also check out the state the ESC (Electronic speed controller), there is a possibility that it might have damaged components. So I took a good look.. Also while taking pictures of it, I released that I had some pictures of Hannah and Tigger:
I received a new battery for my helicopter, as I suspected that the battery in the heli was failing. I emailed the support at LItehawk, they suggested that the short flight time could be caused by battery or motor failure, so having replaced the battery I flew the helicopter, the flight time was better, but not by much. I am going to order a new motor, which will cost $9.50 including postage. Pretty cheap! Tigger is going for a routine checkup this coming Thursday, we got him a carry case this weekend. He’s looked in it a few times, but we have not actually seen him right inside of it. We also got him one of these:
Today I thought that I would try to get some pictures of Tigger doing what he normally does, eating and chilling out on the floor, as I write this he is lying across Hannah’s lap, with his head on my knee and one of his crossed paws with claws in my jeans. Also I got a picture of the cat grass and Aloe Vera plant for prosperity sake. I am off now to take my helicopter apart to see if the motor brushes are ok. It’s almost an hour later now: I have checked the motor brushes, they’re both present and correct. Also got a couple more pictures of Tigger. The brushes are made of carbon, you can see one in the center of the picture, it’s the dark grey part which is running on the slip rings (the cylindrical part) the brushes are pressed into the copper, spring loaded […]
Yay, we have some fairly proper snow now in Sudbury and we’re forecast a little more for the coming days. However on Sunday coming, it’s going in the plus figures, so it’ll all be gone, but to wet and soggy. Though I’d update you on my Aloe Vera, it’s growing well again, but not making as much growth as before, this could be down to the changing seasons or possibly the many small off shoots coming up as new plants. I think there are about 5 plants in the pot now. The helicopter is suffering with very reducing flight time, I thought this was the battery but thought I would contact LiteHawk (the makers) and ask them, they have given a very particle answer, I need to check the brushes on the motor, they’re only small and can wear prematurely due to over heating of the motor, I should be able to see if they’re still […]
