So Hannah and I have various UK electrical items, which we have been running one at a time on a UK to Canadian 2 pin plug adapter, then when we returned to Canada we brought with us a UK 4 gang extension lead. Last night we went out and bought a very cheap 2 pin Canadian plug. I then did some research to discover which pin is live/hot and which is neutral, I read in two rather dodgy sources that the larger of the two pins is neutral and the smaller is live or hot. Not having any real tools here I used my Leatherman knife to undo the screws on the extension lead plug and take the wires out of the plug. I then realised that I needed to start with a clean cable so simply sliced the end of the cable right off with the knife, I then […]
Well, I’ve been back at work for the best part of a week, Hannah has been getting us back in order this past week. We’ve not been very active this week just gone. Taking a step back, we have see these in Pearson Airport before, but we got pictures this time: The weather is warmer and wetter than expected, but thats ok, my wife says that she likes the weather colder.. So this weekend we have been and seen what is left of the Fall colors (Autumn colours). We went to Onanping Falls, which is about 40min drive north. Apparently they were lovely a week ago, I think we missed the best of it.
Well, here I am, on my own in Canada.. Poor me, missing Hannah.. I wonder what she’s up to?! I have a couple of things planned to keep me from missing her too too much. I am going to watch the Rugby tomorrow with Kobus at 92 Hyland Drive. In the morning I might go to a city auction, Eddie said he might come too. On Sunday Troy, Patrick, one of Pat’s friends and I are going to Burwash Prison, not because we’ve done something wrong, but becsause its disused since the 70’s I think. Might try to write my speech now.
Yes you read it right, we did, honestly. We did! Here are some pictures that we took after we’d gone past at about 90km/h, stopped, turned around at the next safe opertunity, pulled up on the side of the road, gone into the trunk (boot) and retirved my camera, then gotten back into the car.. in this time I think the bear had decided that it wasn’t going to hang about for the tourists to watch one going about one’s business, it was able to cover about 50 or so meters away from us in a very short time, far faster than I could have run.. Impressive to say the least. We weren’t the only ones to stop, a truck went by and came back to take pictures also..
Hannah and I spent the morning (9 till 12) at the wildlilfe place, Hannah fed a couple of small birds, a reven and also the racoons. I poured concrete, we managed to pour the three cage bases that we did last time I was there, also, because the concrete went so far, we made another base and poured that too! I am knackered now, harder than the gym any day! I am now sat in the laundret across the road waiting for our washing to be done. Hannah is doing some washing at our laundry room in the appartment building.
Brendan lost his ‘works’ laptop, mainly because its the spare one and someone else needed it more then he did to post on here!! They have returned it to him, so he has finally downloaded pictures from his camera. They date back to when Jessicsa was here all those weeks ago! They are: The last few are from when we went for a walk around the area.
This weekend we have mostly been.. Christmas shopping. I loved the Fast Show. www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-z5T8meC84&feature=player_detailpage Hannah and I spent this weekend trying to get lots of Christmas shopping done so that we can bringthe presents back when we come home in the coming weeks! This does not mean that you will get to open them any sooner, it’ll just start the agony of not touching, shaking, squeezing, etc the presents. Consider yourself told! Other than we haven’t been up to very much, I went into Science north to ask after drawings of the building so that I may model it for Google earth, I now have the name and number of the CEO. Hopefully that’ll come off. We’ve been sorting more wedding stuff. I think we are getting closer with each day, logically enough! This week we’re going to Wacky Wings, which is a new place in town. On Wednesday nights […]
Hannah and I have volunteered to help out at a wildlife place, they take in animals of all kinds and sizes, from mice to moose as they said. Hannah is helping out looking after the animals and I helped out building racoon cages. Brian had three frames made up for shuttering the concrete, now they’re at the stage where they can pour concrete. Hannah cleaned some of the racoon cages and also bottle fed some of the racoons. I saw a bald eagle and a coyote, also they had a number of racoons in a cage who watched us working. The animals there dont show any signs of fear, I dont think that animals here are as scared of humans as they are in the UK. The racoons are very curious, they come to the mesh and snif and look at you. Some animals are naturally very shy, but those […]
I am busy trying to model lots of Sudbury for Google earth since very little is modelled so far. So I am going to see how much I can do!
Well Brendan has had a hectic week at work this week, and Hannah and Jessica haven’t been taking too slow either. Last weekend we went to Kilarny provincial park on Saturady, were we had fish and chips!! They were good, I was very suprised. I can honestly say that they were the best fresh water fish and chips I have ever had. Kilarny is very pretty, its small village with a poplation of approximatly 450. When the sun shines I bet it more than doubles. We went swimming in a local lake with a ‘beach’, but it was such a hot humid day that we didn’t do much else. Its about a 2 hour drive to get there so when we got home we just flaked. So up early again on Sunday, 9 ish I think. We travelled to Manitoulin Island which is about a 2 and a half hour […]
