I think that I’ve worked out how it is going to connect the cable to the gearbox, but the middle gear doesn’t allow enough backlash, so I have ordered two more gears, which are slightly smaller by 2 teeth and 4 teeth, these won’t arrive here till Jan 20th, so I must practice patience.
