This post contains events that might cause distress to some readers (They did to Hannah). We let Tigger out into the big wide world, on Sunday evening, we opened one of the sash windows and he gingerly went out onto the window sill. Then onto the ground outside and with in a few minutes he’d disappeared into the trees. Tigger came back a few times during the following 20 minutes then we decided to bring him in so that we could go out. All had gone well. Today; Tigger was going a little wild, so Hannah let him out this morning at about 9.15. He took off into the bushes. Hannah was once again concerned worried, but then at about 12noon he came back, Hannah spotted him, called his name and came running across the patio outside and jumped in through the open window! We’re thrilled that our Canadian cat […]
Saturday past was spent at Bill and Tracy’s, (with people we didn’t know prior to this engagement,) winterizing their barn. We helped by putting up timber to fix an internal wall to their barn for insulation. Taking down parts of the wall’s in preparation for the false ceiling to go in. The work is all being carried out by friends and volunteers, as Bill is in a wheel chair after his service in the military. It was a stunning day in terms of the weather and good fun meeting many kind and caring people from a small community who had turned out to help. Working is not yet finished, I would happily have kept going back to help finish up if it where not an hour out and given that we were not in the throws of moving. Rain drops kept falling on my head each time I went outside […]
We were invited to accompany Tibor, Zsuzanna, Bill and Dana on the Cortina cruise on Ramsey, for Tibor’s birthday. We enjoyed a lovely evening with them all. Also Tigger has been up to his old tricks: I received my gears for the helicopter servo through the post today, so I replaced them and tested the helicopter in the kitchen, all is now good, just need the wind to drop for some flying to happen outside. I think the gears are missing upward of three teeth. Totally different subject, I was watching the news the other morning, there is a scrolling head lines bar across the bottom of the screen which I usually read if the news is dull. One head line read something like “…more than some people had…”. More than some? MORE THAN SOME? Who on earth do they employ to write their headlines? Indeed..
Tigger has not aided the healing of his injection wound, he licked and scratched at it a lot, so we took him in for a visit to the veterinarian. He was not best pleased at the prospect of riding in his carry case again and fought to avoid having to go into it. He got a clean bill of health, but the nurse did suggest that we try him with a shirt on, which we thought was well worth the laugh. We got him a “princess” shirt for a small dog. After a short period it became clear that he was not thrilled with his new garment, so that was the end of that. Just enough time to snap a couple of embarrassing pictures of him. He’s seeming considerably better for having had the wound cleaned and no shirt on! For nostalgia sake I have measured and drawn a floor […]
Thought I’d take a few pictures this afternoon, as I felt these following topics were important for you to know. Such as the fact that I had repaired both my helicopters, the large one had the broken blade grip (as per the entry) and the small one had a broken skid leg, so I repaired it with some plastic and superglue. Also the Genius now have a chipped tail rotor, so I shall be ordering another one, two, maybe three or four as I seem to get through them pretty quick. I also made a box for carrying and transporting them without the worry of damage, being an eco friendly type, I made it from the original packaging! The box was/is constructed from corrugated cardboard, I was able to fold it accurately by flattening the corrugations using the a ruler and the back edge of a pair of scissors. Today […]
We really enjoyed our visit home,  much fun was had, wonderful to see everyone. We made it back, a pretty uneventful journey really, though many of the people on the plane did clap and cheer when plane landed, not sure why as it wasn’t particularly windy and it seemed like a pretty fair landing. We’ve not been up to very much since we got back, I installed the AC unit. We picked up Tigger and got him settled back into life at the flat. Hannah got a great video of him last week: You might have noticed that there was not a keyboard on the desk? Well that’s because Tigger has pushed it right under the upper desk shelf.. and that is why Hannah and I sometimes fail to do much typing on the computer, it’s all Tigger’s fault! The Weather here is warm and humid, today Google says it’s […]
This morning I went looking for somewhere big and open to fly the helicopters. Having been exploring south of Sudbury last summer I remembered a quarry I had seen down that way. It proved to be a great spot to fly, very quiet, devoid of tall objects to crash into and set in the bottom of a valley. Perfect. I was able to fly fast and high without too many worries. View Larger Map The first flight went well, with the Genius, then I flew the V120D02s, I flew some very fast lengths of the open area, did some turns and was able to bring the helicopter back fairly confidently. Until I eventually did a turn close to the ground and touched the ground, with the helicopter rolled over at 45deg, one of the rotor blades detached from the head and went somersaulting through the air, landing a few meters […]
So without Hannah around we (Tigger and I) have not been getting up to too much. We’ve mainly just been hangin’ out at the flat, We’ve been watching the tele, relaxing and drinking beer. At one stage I was trying to model my helicopter canopy, as per the picture, I was going to take many photo’s and use them to produce a mesh, but Tigger was fooling around getting in the pictures, so I gave up.   I think we both need her here to keep us inline, especially Tigger, he’s a bad influence on me I think. As you can see! Always wanting to do nothing.. I don’t know,, He’s so lazy!
I am here alone now, Hannah is in the UK so I have been flying my helicopters a lot. I flew them both last night. Today Tigger returned to his home, having been on vacation with one of Hannah’s friends. He arrived back at lunch time, I tried to settle him in a little, but had to return to work. When I got home he was particularly affectionate. Later I took my helicopters out and had great fun, but on my second flight of the Genius I crashed, in fairly spectacular fashion. It was a little windy, so I had initially flown carefully, but having flown the V120 successfully I guess I was a little over confident, and brought the helicopter down from high up, maybe 20ft, in a swoop, with reduced power to try to combat the wind which was giving me too much lift. Down it came, into […]
