I decided that before winter I’d upgrade the agaves so that next season the biggest one can go into the ground and the smaller ones can progress up through the pots again. The biggest pot is a plastic one, which I have decided will be better, as when it comes to removing the plant, I can squish the pot to release the soil, plus it weighs less.
I was given a cactus growing kit for Christmas, which stated that they needed 18°C to grow. So hence only now getting to it. First it was a case of adding water to the soil, they expended into something more recognisable as compost or peat. The seeds were mostly microscopic, and quite hard to plant “one seeds depth deep”. The instructions stated that cacti are slow growing so be patient.
I thought I’d try to using Recap Photo to kind of 3d scan the agave plant today. I wasn’t able to take photo’s all of the way around, that would been ideal, but I couldn’t be bothered moving it away from the window.
We picked up some new big pots last weekend and so the other evening I got this one potted out. That little sprout on the left is going to require grabbing and transplanting soon too. There was another one that has not yet made it through the surface yet too.
