A rear indicator failed a few days back, so I set about changing the bulb. Only to find that the bulb was good and that not only did the indicator not work, but also none of the other lights in that cluster either. So I tested the bulbs and all were good. So I set about testing for voltage at the plug connector, I soon realised that the earth/ground pin had dissolved into nothing and was now just missing. After some faffing around I also discovered that if you turn the ignition on and the car can’t operate something that it will longer put power to it. So that had me baffled for a bit until I read about that online. I wound up soldering in a new earth/ground wire and bypassing the plus with the missing pin.
I had bought this switch for something, though I don’t remember what. So I thought that since the reversing lights are very bright and I do not need to go driving about with them on accidentally, that I should use this switch to give me some feed back. Also the reversing lights serve as work lights, so they do not go off when the ignition goes off, as I might accidentally leave then on if I’m not looking.
