The grab handle over the off side rear door had broken and apparently come away from the car body. It transpired that only one side of the handle had a screw fastening it up the body, the other side was just there out of curtesy. So when it was used, it broke. Taking it apart I found that the little pin that carries the load was only plastic, so I made a new one from a metal screw. I also found another similar self tapping screw to fasten it to the car in both locations as it should have been.
I changed the oil on the Citreon C4 Grand Picasso on Saturday. Easy job. Next time it’ll be easier since the hole is now drilled in the under engine guard thingy. Although I’ll be disappointed not to find another snap on wrench.
A rear indicator failed a few days back, so I set about changing the bulb. Only to find that the bulb was good and that not only did the indicator not work, but also none of the other lights in that cluster either. So I tested the bulbs and all were good. So I set about testing for voltage at the plug connector, I soon realised that the earth/ground pin had dissolved into nothing and was now just missing. After some faffing around I also discovered that if you turn the ignition on and the car can’t operate something that it will longer put power to it. So that had me baffled for a bit until I read about that online. I wound up soldering in a new earth/ground wire and bypassing the plus with the missing pin.
