I have finally got two agaves into the ground, but now I have loads in pots too. I have dug over and removed as much of bramble and mombrisha routes as I can from the patch where the agves are going. I planted the largest on Monday, then on Wednesday I got the second bifercated one in and then today I re-potted the remaning ones. If all four of those tiny ones make it though and I wind up loads, I guess I’ll to start giving them away, maybe the village fete will be a good place for them to go.
I decided that before winter I’d upgrade the agaves so that next season the biggest one can go into the ground and the smaller ones can progress up through the pots again. The biggest pot is a plastic one, which I have decided will be better, as when it comes to removing the plant, I can squish the pot to release the soil, plus it weighs less.
Dad gave me a couple more agaves earlier in the year, last night I re-potted them into larger pots as one had started to look a little sad. I’d been meaning to do it for ages, so this was not too soon. I also planted out the three sallows, the tomato and also put the spider plant into a pot and brought it inside. The larger one has grown quite a lot I think. Here is my previous post about it: https://bhhh.co.uk/agave/
I thought I’d try to using Recap Photo to kind of 3d scan the agave plant today. I wasn’t able to take photo’s all of the way around, that would been ideal, but I couldn’t be bothered moving it away from the window.
