Dorset Land Rover Club ran a Pay and Play at a site in Crossways. I got to go at member price because they have an agreement with Woolbridge. Then i and got stuck in a deep bit of water. I was pulled out and went off again having fun. Though i still have the issue and am not really any the wiser as to what it is. Though i think i blame the gearbox, so will be pulling that out next. Though i might remove the rear prop shaft first fo rule out the rear diff.
Out with the new and in with the old, or perhaps i should say, out with the modern and in with the original. I’m currently of the thinking that the electronic ignition set up the cause of all this fuss. The kits doesn’t have a great name for reliability. I have become aware of this since going that route and am now perhaps experiencing this issue first hand. First off I brought the Land Rover into the garage soaking wet. Then I dried the drivers side wing so that I could lean on it without getting wet. Fired it up and it ran, so nothing was disaterously wrong, now it just needs a road test. Although before I do that, I shall buy and fit a new coil, just to be certain. Also I think the coil I have installed to designed to match the electrionic ignition system, and I […]
Since I have joined Woolbridge Motor Club, I thought I would take the Volvo along to an Autotest. “In autotests, the object is to drive around a number of set courses against the clock, with penalties for going the wrong way, hitting marker cones or over-shooting lines.”https://woolbridge.co.uk/car-trials-autotests/ I had a great time, I need some better tires, mine far from aggressive enough, I need some Rain Expert tyres now…
We visited a house where the owners have been re-wilding a few feilds around their property and trying to encourage the wildlife back. It was stunning and lovely to wander through their garden, they’ed clearly spent a lot of time and effort achiving this wild garden and as wide a varity of habitats as possible.
I have borrowed a trail camera from a kind neighbour, we’ve got a goodnumber of rubbish clips of hedgehogs, it’s a joint failure of both myself and the hedgehog, ether it walks too close to the camera or I put the camera in the wrong place, who knows, I did leave a note out for it.. Na, I didn’t really, I know they can’t read good (Ever seen Zoolander?). The Hedgehog: And the fox:
Went out in the evening to do a few of the local lanes, one I haven’t done before and to show a local fella some of those that I knew. I didn’t get much footage, only this one nice picture towards the top of the hill here:
I did three lanes yesterday on the way home from the Tank Museum, the first two were very good, didn’t see too many people and so could dawdle along at my own pace and not distrube anyone. the third I was met with a rive with I chose not to cross. There are the three lanes I did, going right to left, the first one goes from Laurence of Arabia’s (T. E. Lawrence) house to Morton, then the second goes from no where to the same place and the thrid which is a byway rather than an unclassifided road just runs through some feilds and through the river Frome. Luckily i had my flip flops with me, so at the wet bit I could get out and open the gate and explore the wet area. Though I found the most shallow part of the river was above my knee and I […]
We visited the Tank Museum again yesterday, as we had 1 year free re-entry tickets. It was good to go again, they’d changed a lot of of the displays and vehicles around. So it was different enough. we also saw inside of the vehicle conservation building this time: That is the actual tank used in the film Fury, which I have never seen, but I have seen the tank… they had something like 140 tanks in there apparently, I didn’t count them but there are cetainly a lot, as the fella said it’s like tank tetrus in there. I feel that this is a great example of the law of horizontal surfaces, which is, “if you have them you will fill them”.
We’ve done a little re-arranging and planted a few bits in the garden this weekend. Bought a couple of shrubs, no idea what they are, they apparently looked pretty. Had a go at tile grouting the joints in that small patio area, this I am certain I did wrong and mostly made a mess. I shall make myself a icing piping bag arrangemnt with some grout and do it better another time. The rough area is flourishing nicely. Bottom right is my blackcurrent who’s nearly buried in wild strewberrys. Some bulbs went in (lower left) and my Gooseberry is growing well this year (lower right)
We visited Yeovil and one the way home went via Sutton Bingham Reservoir where we stopped for a bit of a walk and play. They’ve added a nice play park at the reservoir car park and made a nice job of the landscaping.
