It’s SNOWING!!! For real! It’s 3deg outside and we actually have proper snow flakes, not like last week when they said it snowed but it wasn’t great big snow flakes. This time it’s real snow. Though it’s not settling, far too wet, we had 3″ of rain yesterday, which for Sudbury is a lot. There were flood warnings for people living in low lying areas. Now i thought Canada was low lying, obviously there are low places and lower places and then the Rockies.
So after Hannah had spent the whole afternoon baking, she carried on and made a lovely macaroni and coli-flower cheese dish, Everything was made from raw ingredients, No packets.. now the pictures do NOT do it justice. Then we dished up and tucked in before remembering to take a picture:
We went for a quick trip up to Onaping falls to see the fall colors. We walked down to the base of the falls and also over the bridge. We stopped in at an ice cream place and got some chocolates. They were very good. Didn’t last long. Earlier this week we spent a voucher given to us by Dave, an amazon voucher which we’d been wonder what we’d spend it on. We browsed Amazon for ideas. Hannah spotted a KitchenAid hand mixer that she fancied, so we got it. It’s pretty and blue.. You’ll see in the pictures. Hannah had a baking day today, she’s made rock cakes, cookies and muffins.
Well today i have had good news from FreeVirtualServers, they say that they can find no phishing content on my website! Which is great news, so I can move forward from here! As you can see, we have added our own pictures to the header banner now. The Aloe Vera plant is doing well considering it recent incident. I few the helicopter again last night, outside, it was completely still, so I was able to improve I feel. I hovered a few times and flew about in the carpark.
Well, I found that we could no longer access bhcars.co.uk as our router was suggesting that it was being used for phishing activity. So I took the old website down, save it all, but it’s not longer accessible online. It has been replaced with this WordPress blog, which is unmodified for the time being. Hope you’re all well, all the best, Brendan & Hannah
I had an “incident” involving the helicopter last Thursday evening. I was flying it in our small apartment, first off I was just lifting only a few mm’s off the floor, then trying to control it, this was proving difficult, so i Googled why it was setting off left every time. Turns out that since the helicopter has only 3 channels of control and no blade pitch control, it will suffer from that effect, caused by the tail rotor resisting the torsion of the main rotor.. so all helicopters suffer from this to some extent. To mitigate this effect it is best to reach a height of 3 feet in the air before trying to hover etc, this also gets away from ground effect problems.. Ground effect makes all the controls far more sensitive apparently. With this in mind I went back to trying, and soon was up above 4 […]
We had a good journey home, no hold ups a few noisy children but nothing too disastrous. We’ve now been married for 368 days and I love my wife more than ever – and she says she loves me too! The Fall colors (Autumn colours) are now yellow rather red. The purpose of this post was to let everyone one know that we made it back safe and sound even through there was a lot of turbulence a fog at Toronto.
Hannah and I went to Halfway Lake today, we got there at about 12noon and had some lunch. Today is back to school for the kids, so the beach and camp site was VERY quiet. There was one couple about half a kilometer up the beach and another person way down the beach in the other direction. The weather was beautiful, the only noise was leaves falling from the trees and the odd wood pecker and a chipmunk going about their business. Hannah dropped a few crisps much to her dismay, which the chipmunk took a liking to. We went for a row out across the lake, then swam and chilled for a few hours in the sun. As we were leaving another couple arrived, they apparently always take a holiday this time of year to catch the quiet season. They’d come up from Toronto for three weeks. We headed […]
Like I said in the last part of the previous entry, we went to Rib Fest, the photo’s are below. Today we went for a walk at Lake Laurentian conservation area. We initially thought that it was going to stay cloudy and possibly rain today, but when we arrived for a our walk the sky cleared and it become very hot. We walked for about two hours, at the end of our walk we saw a snake, a Garter snake. This is the first wild snake I have seen in Canada, spotted by Hannah. Photos
This weekend is a long one, it’s Labor Day weekend, plus both Hannah and I have Tuesday off work, so four days off! We planning on traveling down to go on the 30000 island cruse this weekend, so since it leaves from Parry Sound we thought we would go and stay a night at a provincial park. I chose Killbear park as it is close. We arrived at the park at about 9pm, put up the tent using the car head lights. Then we made a fire, I drank beer and we chilled. Its was lovely! The next morning we visited the Visitor center and went and had a swim in Lake Huron then off to Parry Sound to catch the cruse. The cruse left at 1 and lasted about three hours, half an hour they announced that there were a couple of people from the visitor center at Killbear […]
