The Ford has made some intermitant squeeking metal on metal type of noises ever since we’ve had it. I took it into a garage for a check over shortly after buying it to find out what issues it might have. But they didn’t pick up anything untoward. Hannah noted that the squeeling had gotten worse the other day, so i checked the pads on the frontl, outside, where i could see. They were low, but not disastrous, so i felt that couldn’t be it. So i checked the back, same story, however the noise was still there. So i took the caliper right off to see if there was a stone in behind or something. But i found the inner pad was all gone. So i treated it to some new pads. The pads came with instructions which mention not breaking hard if you can avoid it for the first […]
I came tenth! Not that the result really counts for anything I care about. It was great fun and I’ll go again as soon as I can find time. Read all about it: https://woolbridge.co.uk/2019/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/WMC_webarticle_interactive_autotest_ClayPigeon_20230630.pdf?fbclid=IwAR1xPe0bsOWyMOHRiW697VHMBFmq93RmnfIQHUbZxObn7wvTiWV1VkVE2mg
I went out in the Land Rover on Saturday and discovered it had something of a misfire when underload. I imagine it’s something to do with the ignition system; ..so pulled the distributor cap off, leads and plugs out; Now I am not sure, but two of the plugs where broken when I got them out, now whether they were damaged before I tried to remove them, or whether I simply broke them taking them out, I can not be certain either way. I have cleaned up all of the other components and will get a new set of plugs, which wouldn’t have done any harm either way, and we’ll see if that resolves the issue.
Since I have joined Woolbridge Motor Club, I thought I would take the Volvo along to an Autotest. “In autotests, the object is to drive around a number of set courses against the clock, with penalties for going the wrong way, hitting marker cones or over-shooting lines.”https://woolbridge.co.uk/car-trials-autotests/ I had a great time, I need some better tires, mine far from aggressive enough, I need some Rain Expert tyres now…
We visited a house where the owners have been re-wilding a few feilds around their property and trying to encourage the wildlife back. It was stunning and lovely to wander through their garden, they’ed clearly spent a lot of time and effort achiving this wild garden and as wide a varity of habitats as possible.
I pocked up a loganberry plant from a village stall. I am planning on getting some chicken wire that I will attach to the fence so that it can climb or be fixed to. Hard to tell it apart from the wild strawberrys in this photo.
I have borrowed a trail camera from a kind neighbour, we’ve got a goodnumber of rubbish clips of hedgehogs, it’s a joint failure of both myself and the hedgehog, ether it walks too close to the camera or I put the camera in the wrong place, who knows, I did leave a note out for it.. Na, I didn’t really, I know they can’t read good (Ever seen Zoolander?). The Hedgehog: And the fox:
Went out in the evening to do a few of the local lanes, one I haven’t done before and to show a local fella some of those that I knew. I didn’t get much footage, only this one nice picture towards the top of the hill here:
It’s been time for an oil change for a good few months, on all the cars really, but the Land Rover is the easiest, so it got in there first. I also did an enginer flush, which is a first for me. I got some stuff from Halfords for just over five quid a tin, and that tin will do up to 10 litres of engine oil, so that covers all of our cars. As soon as I got in, I popped the bonnet right off and dumped this stuff in as per the destruction on the tin, then it said to idle for 20 mins, this seemed excessive to me (Even though I don’t understand the reasons etc etc) so I set a timer for 7 mins and thought I woulc chekc back in to see what the engine temperature was up to. After 7 minutes it was still […]
I did three lanes yesterday on the way home from the Tank Museum, the first two were very good, didn’t see too many people and so could dawdle along at my own pace and not distrube anyone. the third I was met with a rive with I chose not to cross. There are the three lanes I did, going right to left, the first one goes from Laurence of Arabia’s (T. E. Lawrence) house to Morton, then the second goes from no where to the same place and the thrid which is a byway rather than an unclassifided road just runs through some feilds and through the river Frome. Luckily i had my flip flops with me, so at the wet bit I could get out and open the gate and explore the wet area. Though I found the most shallow part of the river was above my knee and I […]
