On my way to do my volunteering day at the Kingcombe Center, I thought I would take a more direct route that might be fun. The lane was very scratchy from the beginning to over half way. I will not be doing this one very often, although the bottom most part of the lane was fun and pretty clear. I had to cut back a few branches to get through easily. I may return one evening and do some more significant clearing.
I had noticed that there was a grinding noise from the rear brakes a number of weeks ago, and hoped it was just grit and muck in the drum. I finally got around to taking the drum off and having a look yesterday. It was as I had imagined, not grit and muck, but the shoe was worn right out. This tells me that I should have looked ages back. I shall have to fettle the drum a little and remove some of that grooving. The depth of wear is not great, I’ll roll out the angle grinder and a flap wheel and just take it down a little. I’ll get shoes for the rear axle and do the other side while I am at it.
