Almost done
The Land Rover has reached a state of almost completed. The brakes are being bedded in and one edge of one patch welded up. Then as soon as the brakes start to pull straight it’ll be in for an MoT.
We had a little snow this weekend, only a little. They had more than 6 inches an hour east of us. I didn’t know that until this morning when I spoke with a colleague.

Running LR
The weekend was mainly spent getting past two issues. One, that the new plate that was made to to blank the exhaust was too thick. It was obstructing the inlet manifold from mating properly with the head. The bolts seemed to go tight and everything looked ok. But the land rover was running mainly on cylinder one, very lumpy. Two, the new condensor and points that I fitted caused a short circuit (this could have been the fitters fault or a manufacturing issue), initially it manifested itself as an intermitant fault killing the engine after about a minute or two. Eventually it shorted out completely revealing the fault by letting the smoke out of the wires. Otherwise the weekend was productive and I now have a running Land Rover with some of the dash in.
Another small step
Spent another weekend in Cornwall working on the Land Rover. We get the wiring in the engine bay pretty complete. Got a few other jobs done also. It almost started but for a poor spark. As was suggested, it probably needs an ignition birthday by ways of all new leads, caps, rotor arm, points and condensor.

Slow progress
Made some great progress on the Land Rover with some help. Got bits shotblasted, then galvanised, other parts just painted. Dragged it all down to Cornwall in the Volvo, one wing went via Hannah in the Mazda. Also visited the Great Dorset Steam Fair on the way down on the Thursday. then spent a few days building up the Land Rover.
